Mayor Marolyn Morrison, and other dignitaries of Caledon, along with representatives of the Caledon Animal Shelter, recently received a cheque for $2,500 from Pedigree.
The animal shelter will be joining the 2009 Pedigree Adoption Drive for the second year in a row.
Jenni Gunn, Pedigree manager, said about 45,000 dogs find themselves in animal shelters across Canada annually.
She added the money was part of Pedigree’s Adoption Drive for Caledon Animal Shelter, which will be used toward adoption-related activities, a digital picture frame featuring dogs at the shelter and adoption booklets with information on ways to introduce a dog to its new home.
“Pedigree is extremely happy to partner with the Caledon Animal Shelter in our annual Adoption Drive program,” commented Gunn. “Shelters like the Caledon Animal Shelter provide immense support to the animals in their care waiting to find permanent, loving homes and we are proud to help contribute to their ongoing success.”
Morrison said the Town is proud to continue to be part of the Pedigree Adoption Drive program.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Caledon Animal Shelter to continue their great work for finding good homes for the many dogs they care for.
The campaign hopes to raise $500,000 through a variety of initiatives. All funds collected will go to participating shelters across Canada and will be used to cover costs of vet care, vaccinations, shelter and food.
Gunn as well received from the Mayor on behalf of Caledon a plaque f of appreciation in recognition of Pedigree’s continue support of Caledon Animal Shelter.
