McGuinty Liberals have no plan to create jobs, Jones charges Dufferin — Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones announced recently she’s been wondering where the 146,000 new jobs are that the McGuinty Liberal promised in their 2009 Budget. Since the budget announcement, Ontario has lost another 32,000 jobs, according to a statement issued by Jones’ office. In October alone, Ontario has lost 12,000 jobs, skyrocketing the unemployment rate to 9.3, per cent. “It has been one year since the McGuinty Liberals announced we are now a have-not province,” said Jones. “Since then, Ontario has lost almost 206,000 jobs. When are the McGuinty Liberals going to produce an actual jobs plan that will return Ontario to prosperity? We have the highest tax rate for new business investment, the slowest rate of private sector growth, and a Liberal government that is turning a blind eye to all of it.” It was just two weeks ago that the McGuinty Liberals announced their record-breaking deficit of 24.7 billion, she added. With fewer jobs, higher taxes and huge spending scandals at numerous government agencies, the McGuinty Liberals have dug themselves and Ontario families into an even deeper hole. “Ontarians are working harder than ever to pay down this McGuinty debt,” said Jones. “The McGuinty Liberals seem to be more focused on forcing more taxes on the backs of Ontario families then getting down to business and creating a solid jobs plan that works for this province.”
