Hawks midget AE impressive in pair of Ws The Caledon Hawks midget AE team was again on the road versus Brampton Oct. 3. In the first, the Battalion started strong and notched the only marker early on. In the second Brampton built their lead to three goals. Starting the third, Caledon battled back with Matt Forer finding twine assisted by Cody Ruff at 12:31. Two minutes later, Zach Dalcin potted one, bringing the Hawks back into the game. Brampton scored a goal late in the frame to claim the final 4-2. Taylor Elkins put in a solid effort between the pipes in this well played game. Back at home Oct. 9, the visitors from Woolwich made an appearance. Less than a minute in, Brandon Richard set the tone with a blistering shot unassisted. At mid-period, Connor Oswald and Richard were the diggers with Jacob Hogan providing the finish from close range. Rounding out a strong period, Mitch Theeuwen hit pay dirt with help from Matt Forer. The birds continued the assault in the second frame. One minute in, Dalcin lit the lamp with assists to Alessandro Ristucci and Michael Boldrin. Oswald built the lead to five goals unassisted and the Hawks were cruising. In the third, Woolwich fought back with two goals a minute apart. The rally was capped when Joseph DiMarco and Richard combined to feed Cam Miller for the last goal in a 6-2 win for the home side. Jamie Rowley was very solid in net, earning the first home victory for the Hawks. Oct. 13 found the gang in Acton, facing a strong offensive team. The Tanners got a quick start, counting two goals in the first three minutes. The Caledon answer came off a high laser from Lee Panchuk unassisted at 11:06. Action retook the two-goal lead as the first wound down. On the first shift of the second, Kristian McMillan and Jacob Hogan were the playmakers as Richard tallied a goal. Ten seconds later McMillian and Hogan fed Dalcin, who stunned the home crowd tying the game. Action retook the lead later in the period on the power play and added insurance in the third. With eight seconds remaining and the net empty, Dalcin brought the Hawks back to within one. The Hawks came close to getting even, but the contest closed 5-4 in favour of Acton despite a sizable Hawks’ shot advantage. Whirlwind week for the AE novice Hawks! The novice AE Caledon Hawks played four games in five days last week to test their endurance and love of the game. Stoney Creek squeaked by with a 2-1 win last Wednesday. The kids from the "Creek" outshot the Hawks 18-12, but the dynamic goaltending duo of Charlie Pridham and Aldorino Di Febo held them off. Jada Christian and Lorenzo Oppedisano collected the goal and assist. The Hawks arrived in Milton Thursday to be disappointed with a 3-1 loss. Outshot 12-7, Lorenzo Oppedisano pressed hard for the goal with the help of Steven Tomlin. Saturday's exhibition game saw a turn, as the Hawks defeated the Duffield Devil's 5-3. Racking up the points were Braeden Martel and Jada Christian with two goals each and Justin Eccleston adding another notch to his belt. Sunday, the Hawks travelled the distance but couldn't steal the win from Wellington with a final score of 4-3 for the home team. Braeden Martel landed two goals and Justin Eccleston picked up one. Assists were awarded to Jaxon Keelan (two) and Jada Christian (one). All other Hawks, Jeremy Searle, Tucker Hardy, Mitchell Dumitru-Mifsud, David Amato, Tyler Marinko, Stephanie Caleca, Taylor Murphy, Daniel Verdone and James Ferris, played well.
