Works of Yael Erlichman on display at Alton Mill
Yael Erlichman is seen with one of her creations, entitled Yolande. The creations of internationally renowned Israeli sculptor Yael Erlichman are on display at the Alton Mill until May 24.
Erlichman herself was at the Mill over the weekend to help launch the exhibit.
Erlichman's work reflects her fundamental values regarding human dignity, and her sculptures find great aesthetic value in the most common human form. Making use of technical skill and an eye for vivid details, she imbues her inanimate bronze figures with profound emotion, humour and energy, which serve as a tribute to human nature and human optimism.
She said there's no message behind her creations.
"I have to let the people decide," she remarked. "Everyone can see different things."
"I like to do the art, but not speak about the art," she added.
Erlichman's creative process includes producing bronze castings in a foundry in the Jerusalem hills and then polishing and burnishing each individual sculpture with its unique personality.
Erlichman's work can be found in corporate and private collections worldwide, and has been exhibited most recently in New York, throughout the United States, in the Netherlands and in her homeland of Israel.
