Silvers and gold for Cougars major atom girls
      Tournament stops in Newmarket, Barrie and Scarborough have all borne fruit this basketball season for the Caledon Cougars major atom girls. First on the schedule was the IEM Newmarket tourney, where it took four hard-fought wins to reach the final before the local girls had to settle for the silver in a 31-42 final against Kitchener-Waterloo.

Orangeville Fairgrounds welcomes new horse show series
      The Orangeville Fairgrounds is the new location for the 2009 Horse Show series, hosted by the Tottenham Equestrians Riding Club. After searching extensively in the New Tecumseth, Caledon and Dufferin areas, the Tottenham Equestrians Club has chosen the Orangeville Fairgrounds for the 2009 show season.

ROPSSAA football All-Star team is full of Caledon colours
      The Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association released the All Star Teams for 2008 for senior boys' football last Thursday. In the Tier 2 Division, the Caledon schools were well represented, with Mayfield Secondary School placing three representatives on the team, while Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School had four.

      Mayfield Taylor Stephens The 17-year-old Stephens is a twotime recipient of Athlete of the Week (first - Dec. 18), as a three-sport athlete with the Mavericks. The Grade 12 student is a libero with the volleyball team, a shortstop with the baseball team and a point guard with the basketball team.
