Caledon Cavaliers Women's Rugby Team play Belleville Saturday in Palgrave

The Caledon Cavaliers Women's Rugby Team has begun again.

The girls, who range in age from 15 to 28 plus, and hailing from as far away as Alliston, Toronto, Brampton and locally in Bolton, have been braving the early summer heat to bring some victories back to Caledon.

The Cavaliers played their fourth game of the season against Oshawa and came out victorious with a 10-0 win. The first half had the team fighting hard keeping Oshawa's offensive end out of the Caledon end.

Through the heat of the second half, Lydia Voura and Alison McCormick were able to punch in two tries. New player Sarah Thorton made a big impression on the field playing numerous positions and working well with the team.

This past Saturday (June 15), the Cavaliers once again scored a convincing victory in a hard-fought game versus Cobourg, with a score of 20-5.

All tries scored were fullteam efforts. Try scores were made from Laura

Sperduti, Charlene Riedler, Andrea Defrancesco and Voura. Player of the match was McCormick.

The team effort toward communication was doubled during this game, whether it was general conversation, telling the ball carrier what to do, driving the scrums and line-outs, scrum halves telling the players to pick and go, or drive over the ruck, the high level of communication won this game.

The next game for the Cavaliers will be played on home turf at their field in Palgrave this Saturday (June 21) against Belleville, kickoff at noon. Directions to the field for anyone interested in showing some support can be found on the website, www.caledonrugby.com
