Mayor is defended Over the past few months, I have been reading the smear campaign against our mayor. As a resident of this community who was raised here and who is now raising a family here, I felt compelled to provide my two cents. Regarding the Mayfield West vote, under the Municipal Conflict of Interest Guidelines set out by the Province of Ontario, the mayor did not have a conflict in voting. And lets face it people, the boundary area known as Mayfield West was planned long before the mayor even got on council and the Livingston lands were a part of it. I think what residents should really be concerned with, is what we stand to loose by not having Marolyn Morrison as our mayor. This smear campaign and negative politicking should not be overshadowed by Caledon's great leap in improvements under her leadership. Let's not forget that we are the greenest town in Ontario, the safest municipality in Canada. We are debt free and we have the third lowest taxes in the GTA. The list of her accomplishments for the betterment of Caledon goes on.
So as a resident of Caledon, I choose to judge Mayor Morrison on her record of actions, not some hearsay from a paper with ulterior motives or a councillor who runs on a platform of no growth and now wants another Bolton in South Albion (which happens to be on Bolton's doorstep). |
