ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
 | | Mayfield Matthew Wortley Wortley, 16, was on the Mavericks' rowing team. They placed third at the Mother's Day Regatta, as well as finishing well at Nationals in St. Catharines, coming fifth and second in their two senior four-man crews. The Grade 10 student also won ROPSSAA in alpine skiing. He also competes in alpine with the Caledon Ski Club and rowing with Island Lake in Orangeville. He lives in Caledon with his parents Kip and Jessica Wortley. |

 | | Humberview Michael Laanuere Laanuere, 16, was the captain of the junior boys' rugby team (3-3), which lost in the ROPSSAA Single Tier quarter-finals to Lorne Park May 27. The Grade 10 student also plays house league hockey in Inglewood. He lives in Caledon East with his mother Lori Laanuere. |

 | | Robert F. Hall Allan and David Boers Recently the Boers brothers, senior students in the planning for independence program at Hall, competed in the Special Olympics for Durham Region at the Provincial Spring Games. Representing Orangeville, the brothers qualified in the swimming events winning several medals. Allan won two gold (50-metre freestyle and 50-metre back stroke), a silver (50-metre breast stroke) and a bronze (25-metre freestyle). David won a gold in the 50-metre breast stroke, three silver medals (50-metre breast stroke, 50-metre freestyle and the 25-metre freestyle), as well as bronze in the 25-metre breast stroke. The brothers also play baseball in Orangeville with a special needs league. The Orangeville residents live with their parents Bert and Barbara. |
