Tim Horton tykes prepare for Little Champs week in June

The Caledon Vaughan lacrosse tykes have been battling it out to see who will finish where in preparation for Little Champs week, starting June 23.

At Al Paladini Community Centre, team white played off against team black with the end result being a nail biting 4-4 tie. James Winslow would get the hat trick with Ethan Seymour adding a single for the whites. Matthew Deamicis and Evan Gray scored two each for the blacks.

Later in the evening, team orange overcame team grey in the third period to win 9-6. Paton Dorval was the star for the greys with a hat trick; Bailey Rocca would add two more and finally Hayden Saunders with a single. Speedster Nicholas Fulgenzi would start the scoring off, followed by Bryce Thompson (two), Travis Mailhot (two), James Scott and Ethan Chladny (three) for the oranges.

The following week back in Bolton, the tyke oranges saw Travis Mailhot, Eric Lynch and Bryce Thompson lead their team to a 6-3 win over team white. Connar Chisolm put in two goals with Justin Law Cobb adding a single for the whites. Team black and grey thrilled fans with a high-scoring, free-wheeling game. Grey's Paton Dorval would put in four goals back to back followed by Jeremy Searle's hat trick. But the black's Evan Gray would lead his team to victory with his four goals along with Evan Vert (three), David Sopinka and Matthew Deamicis to win the game 9-7. A special thank you goes to Tim Hortons for their yearly support of the tyke division.

Paperweights, or peanuts as some leagues call them, are the youngest lacrosse players in the organization. They range from ages four to six. These little guys have been busy as well, scrimmaging and practicing their skills under the watchful eye of their convener Teresa Winslow.

The oldest age group is the peewee-bantams. These boys play a hard, fast-paced game of lacrosse. Gabe Martino, coach of the Wings, watched his boys defeat the Rush by a score of 6-4. The following week, coach Fraser Rock of the Rush would get his chance at victory with their defeat of the Bandits by a score of 6-3.

The peewee-bantams would like to thank their sponsors Just Lubes, Garden Foods, Stuart Sinclair/Remax, Bill Parnaby/Royal LePage.

The novices would like to thank their sponsors Drew International, Freight Forwarding, Giant Tiger, S.I.L. Plastic and Canadian Tire.
