Hear how to become a teacher in Ontario

Do you have a passion for learning and a desire to share your knowledge and energy with others? A career in teaching can offer meaningful, important work!

Next Thursday (June 19) from 10 to 11:30 a.m., the Jobs Caledon Employment Resource Centre will be hosting Cathy Lofgreen, an external relations officer in the French Language Services Department of the Ontario College of Teachers. She will be discussing how to apply for a licence and what qualifications are required to teach in the publicly-funded elementary or secondary school system in Ontario. How education is structured in Ontario and who the key organizations are in elementary and secondary education will also be explained.

Lofgreen graduated from Queen's University and the Faculty of Education at Queen's. She has worked in a variety of teaching, administrative and management roles in the public and private sectors, including, in the past 15 years, the Toronto School Board, the Education Improvement Commission, the Task Force on Effective Schools and the Ontario College of Teachers.

"There are many factors that influenced my decision to become a teacher." stated a Brampton high school teacher in his third year. "The primary one is the passing on of knowledge to an individual that up to that point had not considered that particular way of looking at the world. Teachers that had the greatest impact on me were ones that showed me a new way of looking at the world."

Become an influential teacher in someone's life. Book your seat for the June 19 workshop by calling (950) 951-2300 or (905) 584-9460 or e-mailing jobs@ccs4u.org
