Police lay numerous drug related charges in last week

Traffic

Caledon OPP officers responded to 16 motor vehicle collisions during the week ending Monday.

As well, five motorists were charged under Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act for excessive speeding.

Drugs

Traffic enforcement conducted May 23 on Highway 9 at Mount Hope Road resulted in a vehicle stop. The driver, a 37-year-old man from Pefferlaw, was charged possession of marijuana and failing to comply with an undertaking.

Adriver has been charged following a May 23 Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check on Highway 9 at Tottenham Road. The 34- year-old man from Newmarket was charged possession of marijuana.

A similar spot check that night in the same area resulted in a 30-year-old man from Mississauga being charged with possession of marijuana.

Police were out conducted spot checks in the same area May 24, and laid several charges against two occupants of a vehicle. The driver, a 50-year-old man from Alliston, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of cannabis resin and driving with an open container of liquor. The passenger, a 45-year-old man also from Alliston, was charged with possession of cannabis resin.

A May 24 RIDE spot check in the area of Regional Road 50 and Mayfield Road resulted in charges for the driver of a vehicle stopped, a 19-year-old man from caledon, who was charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose and possession of marijuana.

That same day saw a 24- year-old man from North Bay charged with possession of marijuana after a vehicle was stopped in the area of Regional Road 50 and Mayfield Road.

Fraud

A Caledon area couple reported May 20 that they had purchased a motorcycle on-line. The purchase price was paid up front and an additional sum of money was sent to the seller to cover insurance costs. The purchasers never received the motorcycle. Police remind everyone purchasing on line to be aware, cautious and always make informed decisions.

Two men are arrested and charged May 25 following attempts to pass counterfeit money at two Bolton area retail stores on Allan Drive. The men, aged 26 and 23, both from Brampton, were charged with possessing counterfeit money and uttering counterfeit money.

Impaired driving

A 21-year-old man from Severn Township was charged with several offences after contact with police May 22 on Old Church Road and Antrim Court in Caledon East. He was charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 mls. of blood, driving with liquor readily available; failing to surrender the permit for a vehicle, failing to surrender his licence and failing to surrender his insurance card.

Police charged an involved driver in a May 22 collision on Regional Road 50, north of Columbia Way. The 33-year-old driver from year Adjala was charged with dangerous operation and impaired driving.

A May 22 traffic complaint on Highway 10 led to a vehicle stop near The Grange Sideroad in Caledon. The driver, a 27-year-old woman from Woodbridge, was charged with impaired driving and driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 mls. of blood.

Traffic enforcement led to the May 23 arrest of a driver in a lot off of Regional Road 50 in Bolton. The 19-yearold woman from Oakville was charged with impaired driving and driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 mls. of blood.

A May 24 traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Highway 10 near Valleywood Boulevard led to the arrest of the driver. The 21-year-old man from Brampton was charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 mls. of blood.

A May 24 RIDE spot check on Heart Lake Road near Boston Mills Road resulted in a charge against a 46-year-old from Orangeville, who was charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 mls. of blood.

Mischief

A wooden park sign was damaged when it was ripped from its post at a Bolton area parkette May 19.

Reports have been made to Caledon OPP over the last week regarding graffiti in behind the Valleywood library as well as on a new bridge construction support nearby.

Police were advised May 22 of damage caused to two dump trucks that were parked overnight in a lot off of Airport Road in Caledon.

During the night of may 23, a small rock was thrown at a window of a business on Healey Road causing a hole. No entry to the building was made.

Broken beer bottles were left on the roadway of Hutton Crescent in Valleywood during the night of May 25.

Recovered vehicles

A tractor and trailer were recovered abandoned in a business parking lot on Humber Station Road in Caledon May 20. The tractor and trailer were stolen from different locations in the jurisdiction of Peel Regional Police.

Theft During the early morning of May 19, four individuals; two males and two females; entered a business on Regional Road 50 and removed items from the shelves. They then left without paying for them.

Two rod iron chairs were reported stolen from a Garden Wood Avenue home in Valleywood May 19. Both were located abandoned in the ravine, however one was broken. Another resident in Valleywood, on Hutton Drive, reported Muskoka chairs were stolen from the property. Those chairs have not yet been recovered.
