Minor injuries after youth attacked near Bolton school One youth has been charged following an assault with a weapon incident Tuesday in a park on Kingsview Drive in Bolton, across the street from Humberview Secondary School Caledon OPP reports they were called to the scene shortly after 2 p.m. after a youth apparently assaulted and cut an 18-year-old male with a knife. The victim sustained only minor injuries. He was taken to hospital, treated and released later that day. A 15-year-old youth from Caledon has been charged with aggravated assault and robbery with a weapon. Sylvia Link, manager of communications with the Peel District School Board, said the injured person, who sustained injuries to the throat, is a student at Humberview, and his suspected assailant was not. Both police and the school were quick to issue assurances that there was no danger to others in the area from the incident. "It's important to remember that this incident is not directly related to our school," Principal Rick Tredwell stated in a letter sent home to parents yesterday (Wednesday). "Police have assured us that there is no increased safety concern in our community. Humberview continues to be a safe and secure learning environment for your teen. I'm proud of the way our students handled this situation." The investigation is on going. Many Humberview students were in the park at the time of the incident. Police want to speak to any one who was in the area and witnessed the assault. Information regarding this incident can be forwarded to police by contacting Constable Clyde Vivian at (905) 584- 2241. |
