The best things in life are free, or almost I was pleased to be able to go to the former Caledon landfill site (on Quarry Road near Highway 24 at the Credit River) this week, dig up and load into my car almost 100 pounds of the finest compost from a huge pile there - for only a toonie. This compost is the result of the green bin efforts of thousands of Caledon residents. While personally, I don't have much use for the green bin because we compost our kitchen and garden wastes on our own property, residents who can't or, for whatever reason, won't compost at home should use their green bins, and take advantage of the beautiful organic fertilizer that results.
Why buy bagged sheep manure for your gardening needs when our municipality provides compost that is local, of great quality and virtually free? |
