Homicide investigated after body was found in Caledon Thursday

Caledon OPP had this stretch of Old School Road closed for more than two days after the body of a Brampton man was found there Thursday.
Caledon OPP are releasing few details about a homicide investigation that started late Thursday afternoon, after a body was found at the side of Old School Road, just east of Heart Lake Road.

Police announced Saturday the body was that of Ariel Besley, 18, of Brampton, but they would offer no other details about the cause of death.

Police were called to the scene at about 5 p.m. Thursday after the body was discovered by the side of the road, and Old School Road was closed between Dixie and Heart Lake Roads until Saturday evening.

The investigation is being headed by Detective Inspector Chris Gilpin of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Police also issued assurances to the public that there was no continued threat to community safety from the incident.

They do want to speak with any persons who may have information concerning this murder investigation. Any information can be reported to Detective Constable Steve Cole at the Caledon OPP Crime Unit at (519) 927-3041.
