ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Mayfield Taylor Reid Reid, 17, won the gold in the 3,000 metre at a mini meet in Etobicoke last Tuesday. The Grade 11 student will be competing in the 1,500 metre, at the Blue and Gold track and field meet also at Centennial SS in Etobicoke. Reid trains with a triathlon/cross country group, C3, which is in Inglewood. He lives on the outskirts of Terra Cotta with his parents Peggy and Jim Reid. Humberview Andrija Balen Balen, 16, placed second and third respectively in the shot put and discus competitions in Etobicoke. Besides track and field, the Grade 10 student was also on the Huskies varsity boys' basketball team. In the community he is on the Caledon Cougars basketball squad. He lives in Bolton with his parents Dijana and Zeljko Balen. Robert F. Hall Breanna Atkinson Atkinson, 15, placed second in the 80 metre and 300 metre hurdles at the track and field meet in Etobicoke. The Grade 9 student also participated in cross country at Hall. The distance runner also participates with the Orangeville Track Club. She lives in Orangeville with her parents Ginette and Ross Atkinson.
