Genticorum concert and musicians' workshops this week

The Juno nominated Quebecois trio Genticorum is coming to Caledon this Friday (April 25) at 7:30 p.m.

Fresh from their five week tour of Australia, the band is bringing their wonderfully entertaining performance to Claude Presbyterian Church. This concert will be the first concert in Canada to showcase the band's third CD: La Bibournoise.

Genticorum are a trio, playing fiddle, flute, guitar, bass, jew's harp and feet! They also sing in three part harmony, bringing to life some of the funniest Quebecois call and response songs. Much of Genticorum's music is newly composed, based on the exciting repertoire of traditional music from Canada's French culture. Their stage show is funny, musically superb and completely engaging. Concert tickets ($20) are available from Acoustic Traditions Music, 57 Broadway, Orangeville, or you can reserve through the church office (905) 838 3512.

In addition to the Friday night concert, the band members will be conducting musicians' workshops for fiddle, flute and guitar Saturday, from 11:45 until 2 p.m. Musicians will learn tunes from the terrific repertoire of Quebecois music, from the masters of the genre.

For workshop registration or further information, call the church office at (905) 838 3512 or e-mail wjeg@3web.net

The church is at 15175 Hurontario St.
