ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Mayfield

Jaime Truelant

Truelant, 16, is on the Mayfield girls' indoor soccer team, which won a tournament at the Soccer Centre in Vaughan. They beat St. Mary's 1-0 in he final. The Maverick indoor team will play in the Tournament of Champions April 11. The Grade 11 student also plays volleyball and basketball at Mayfield. Outside school she also plays soccer for Brams United, as well as the ACTS Elites U18 girls' volleyball team. She lives in Caledon and her parents are Susan Gesner and Sean Truelant.

Humberview

Matthew Cooney

Cooney, 18, is on Humberview's badminton team which participated in the Turner Fenton's 26th annual Silver and Black Tournament April 2 and 3. On the second day of the tournament he lost in the mixed doubles quarterfinals with his partner Laura Mills. He lives in Bolton with his parents Wendy and Mark Cooney.

Robert F. Hall

Aaron Deffett

Deffett, 18, is on Hall's badminton team, which also participated in the Turner Fenton tournament. Though the Grade 12 student doesn't participate in sports outside of school, he trains and workouts. He lives in Caledon with his parents Dianne and Lorne Deffett.
