Laugh Out Loud being presented by CPCC Since disclosing her own personal struggle with postpartum depression in 2004, Canadian singer-songwriter Amy Sky has been giving a voice to mental health. "I speak to others about my own journey through postpartum depression, to help educate people about this mysterious and misunderstood condition," she said. "I am a passionate advocate in the fight to remove the stigma from this and all other mood disorders." Not only has Sky bravely survived mental illness but she remains committed to using her experience to help others. She will be the special guest speaker at Laugh Out Loud, a local charity fundraiser hosted by the Caledon Parent-Child Centre/Ontario Early Years Centre (CPCC/OEYC), supporting their Adjustments After Birth programs, for support and prevention of postpartum mood disorders. Now in its fourth year, this ladies' only event will be held at Glen Eagle Golf Club April 25 at 7 p.m. Sky will open the evening by sharing her very personal, postpartum experience and incredible journey of courage and healing. Following that, there will be the explosive comedy of Allyson Smith and Tim Nutt from Yuk Yuk's on Tour. The evening will also include fabulous prizes, hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, a delicious sweet table and a silent auction with items for every pocket book. Tickets for Laugh Out Loud are $50 each and are now available for purchase at the Caledon Parent-Child Centre/Ontario Early Years Centre (cash only please). For more event information, call the CPCC/OEYC at (905) 857-0090 or visit their Web site at www.cpcc. org The evening is sponsored by BMO Bank of Montreal (Bolton branch), Bill Parnaby of Royal LePage, Fines Ford Lincoln Sales and Service, Flex-mor Industries Ltd., James Dick Construction Ltd., Egan Funeral Home and Sensory Garden Child Development Centre. |
