Peel puts a spotlight on food and nutrition for March Nutrition Month 2008

March is Nutrition Month and the Region of Peel is encouraging residents to eat healthier and feel great.

During the month, Peel Public Health has been presenting a special feature on its Web site highlighting healthy eating tips.

"We are pleased to offer special food tips and nutrition information. It is our hope that these tips will help residents make at least one positive change for themselves or their entire family, as recommended by Dietitians of Canada," commented Eva Loewenberger, Peel public health dietitian. "We also provide information by mail and phone consultations to support people in making healthy eating a part of their lives."

Visit www.healthyeatingpeel.ca and click on "Nutrition Month 2008" to learn about the featured topics, such as smart size your food, colour your world with vegetables and fruit, grocery shop for taste and health, make mealtime a family affair, and ask our dietitian a nutrition question.

Peel Public Health also offers free presentations and displays about nutrition for groups, workplaces and organizations within the region throughout the year.

Also during March, Peel residents can enter a draw for one of three best selling cookbooks, Simply Great Food, published by Dietitians of Canada, by submitting one positive healthy eating change they have made. Residents can enter the draw by visiting www.healthyeatingpeel.ca and clicking on "Nutrition Month 2008."

For more information on Nutrition Month, visit www.healthyeatingpeel.ca, or call Peel Public Health at (905) 799-7700 and ask to speak to a dietitian.
