First phase of Mayfield West receives OMB approval The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) has approved the first four plans of subdivision in the Town of Caledon's new Mayfield West Community. Caledon council endorsed the draft plans in January, and a verbal order of approval was received from the OMB later that month, according ot a a statement issued by the Town Wednesday morning. "These four parcels of land represent the first phase of new development in Mayfield West," said Mayor Marolyn Morrison. "Council supported the approval of these subdivisions because they are consistent with the Mayfield West Community Design Plan and Master Environmental and Servicing Plans prepared for the proposed South Fields development." The lands in this first phase are located on the east side of Kennedy Road, south of Old School Road and north of the Highway 410 extension. Development is expected to commence this spring. Owned by Moscorp Development Inc., the four proposed subdivisions will be marketed as South Fields and supported by a full range of municipal services. South Fields has been designed as a pedestrian-oriented community focused on a five-to- 15 minute walking radius to key community elements, such as the proposed village centre, community facilities, schools and public open spaces. Pedestrian and bicycle trails linkages will be provided through the Etobicoke Creek valley to Valleywood and also to Snell's Hollow and beyond. Moscorp has proposed to develop the four parcels over the next three to five years. Future home to more than 9,000 residents and a wide variety of housing types, the Town reports Mayfield West will also provide more than 450 gross acres of employment land in a natural setting suitable for campus-style development. |
