Saturday saw the Caledon peewee Lightning face the Brampton Spitfires at the Inglewood Arena.
Caledon came away with another win on the slate.
Just seconds into the first period, Caledon's Hayden Gorman, starting centre, won the draw taking the puck through the opponents and scoring, unassisted.
The balance of the game featured strong defensive hockey from both clubs, as well as tremendous goal tending at either end.
During the next two periods, Caledon had many shots, but none scored. Caledon forwards Luke McAree, Gorman, Christian Brugger, Cody Tremblay, Patrick Bourne, Michael Sheridan, Michael Tepper, Dylan Yandeau and Kristian Balinov all put forth a strong game.
There were also about 20 superb direct saves by Caledon's goal tenders Paul Moratti and Ryan Woodworth, who achieved yet another shared shut-out. Defencemen Alex Brugger, Tyler Tiessen, Mitchell Lovell and Charlie Hird were kept on their toes and can take credit for the lack of further scoring by Brampton.
The fast-paced, hard-hitting game closed 1-0 for Caledon; giving the Lightning another win under their belts, as they head through the playoffs.
"This was the most exciting play of the season, the boys skated hard playing amazing defensive hockey," Coach Mike Sheridan commented.
