No injuries as small plane crashes on landing in Caledon

Caledon OPP officers responded to 17 property damage and three personal injury collisions during this six day period ending Monday.

Airplane crash

A small plane experienced a rough landing at approximately 2:39 p.m. Feb. 23 at a Horseshoe Hill Road property. The pilot, a 56 year old man from Caledon, was alone in his plane when while landing it hit a snow bank at the side of the runway and flipped over. The pilot was not injured. The Canadian Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

Alcohol and driving

A driver has been charged criminally after being stopped for speeding on Highway 10 near Olde Baseline Road Feb. 23. The 28-year-old man from Mississauga has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 mls. of blood.

A Feb. 24 traffic stop on Highway 10, near Boston Mills Road, resulted in a criminal charge, as well as several Highway Traffic Act charges, being laid against a 36-year-old man from Brampton. He has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 mls. of blood, driving with improper headlights, making an unsafe lane change and failing to surrender his licence.

Break and enter

A business on Airport Road was entered during the evening of Feb. 18. Locks were broken to gain entry to several storage containers. Approximately 30 spools of copper and a plate tamper were reported stolen.

Culprit(s) rammed the front gate of another Airport Road business during the early morning hours of Feb. 19. Two plate tampers were stolen.

Drugs Atraffic stop on The Gore Road Feb. 23 resulted in the arrest of 41-year-old man from Brampton. He will appear in court March 24, charged with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana).

Mischief

A vehicle's driver side window was smashed out to gain entry to it while it was parked at a Keily Crescent residence in Caledon Feb. 18. Nothing has been reported taken from inside the vehicle.

Stolen - recovered vehicle

Avehicle was stolen from the driveway of a Linn Road residence during the night of feb. 18. It was recovered abandoned in Toronto the following day.

Theft

A parked vehicle on McCabe Crescent was reported entered Feb. 23 during the night. A cell phone charger and GPS unit were stolen.
