Meals on Wheels Volunteer of the Month

Russell Noble has a long history with Caledon Meals on Wheels and also a very long history in Caledon.

Noble's ancestors settled in Caledon in the early 1900s. The family owned the Sutton Hotel at the southwest corner in Caledon Village, which is now the site of Eddy Shack's Donuts. His grandfather was the minister at St. James Anglican Church in Caledon East and the family also had strong ties to the Caledon East United Church. His brother, Wayne Noble, still resides in the original family home in Caledon East.

When the call went out in 1984 for volunteers to deliver meals to the Caledon East area, Noble did not hesitate to offer his services. His father and grandfather were clients receiving meals as well as many seniors in the community.

His strong ties and commitment to family and neighbours continue to this day.

He moved to Toronto in 1982 and began his long career in the China department at Simpsons (now The Bay) in the Eaton's Centre. Noble is in his 27th year with the company. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening and cooking and spending leisurely days at his cottage near Parry Sound.

Noble's dedication to the seniors in Caledon is evident in his record of 23 years of volunteer service with Caledon Meals on Wheels. Just imagine all the meals he has delivered and all the miles travelled over those 23 years! He is truly deserving of being chosen our very first Volunteer of the Month.
