Atom select Blackhawks start playoffs with a victory

The Cucci Hair Salon - Aspen Architectural - RBC Insurance atom select Blackhawks have won first playoff game against the Brampton Rockets.

The Blackhawks were well prepared for their first game and came out hard, not allowing the Rockets into the defensive zone for the first minutes of the game. Jesse Gatt put an emphasis on controlling the game by scoring early off a face off, snapping a shot past a screen and the Brampton goalie. Later in the period David Rebelo scored on a power play, with assists going to Philip Iozzo and Vincent Filgiomeni. the opening frame ended with the Blackhawks up 2-0.

The Blackhawk strong play was backed up by the strong performance of Ernesto Colacito who stopped two Brampton breakaways with two great saves. Late in the second, Riley Telfer and Iozzo helped Rebelo find his second goal of the game. The Blackhawks took the rest of the game with strong two-way play. Before the game was done, Iozzo earned his third point of by passing to Luca Dovigo, who made a cross ice pass to Rebelo who moved in and finished off his hat trick with a shot to the top shelf. Colacito earned another shut out, as the Blackhawks won 4-0.
