School bus cancellations a concern

If you have children who take a bus to school in Bolton, you may have the same concerns I do about our busing situation.

I believe there have already been about five bus cancellation days due to inclement weather this year. Obviously, first and foremost is the children's safety, but the trouble with this is that the roads can be fine in Bolton, but because a cancellation covers the entire town of Caledon, our buses are cancelled on days where the weather and roads are perfectly fine in Bolton.

The problem with this is that the curriculum still needs to be covered, and our children are missing out on valuable teaching days and having to somehow makeup for many lost days when the cancellations aren't necessary in Bolton.

I believe that with the huge disparity in the weather throughout all of Caledon (Orangeville has very different weather than Bolton does for example), that something should be done about our school busing in Bolton. Perhaps the school board or bus company needs to exclude Bolton in their Town of Caledon cancellations, when appropriate. If you believe this is a situation that needs to be addressed, contact your school trustee (as I have) and voice your concerns over your child's education.
