Palgrave United shows concern for environment Members of the congregation at Palgrave United Church have been active showing their concern for the environment. Their activities have included education of the membership; a Plate to Planet (100 Mile) fund-raising dinner; use of fair-trade products (coffee, chocolate, palm branches); eliminating the use of bottled water, paper plates and Styrofoam cups; recycling and composting (including separate containers for paper towels from washrooms); anti-idling signs for church and manse property; and replacement of incandescent light bulbs by florescent or long-lasting compact florescent bulbs. There is still more that can be done, both as a church and as individuals. They are inviting the community to join them for a morning workshop to learn together. It will be Feb. 2 from 10 until 11:30a.m. at the church, at 34 Pine Ave. (one block east of Highway 50). |
