Bomb threat closes roads in Bolton Thursday

OPP crews were out in force investigating a bomb threat in bolton Thursday.
A bomb threat at a financial institution in Bolton prompted Caledon OPP to close roads in the area of Regional Road 50 and McEwan Drive for about three hours Thursday.

The roads were re-opened when officers of the OPP Explosive Disposal Unit (RDU) cleared the bank. There was no bomb or anything else suspicious found there.

Police said they responded to the threat at about 1:10 p.m.

Caledon OPP Constable Linda Kennedy reported they evacuated the immediate area, closing the McDonald's at the corner of the intersection and limiting traffic into the plaza.

The roads were re-opened at about 4:10 p.m.

"It's a criminal investigation at this point," she said.

Police are still working to identify those responsible for the threat.

Police are usually reluctant to publicize bomb threats. Kennedy said Inspector Andy Karski, detachment commander, wanted to be up-front with people, who would have been curious about all the activity.

They also expressed appreciation for the cooperation they received from the public during this incident.
