Bolton's Dan Soelberg will be signing books at Forster's

Bolton native Dan Soelberg will be visiting Forster's Book Garden Dec. 7 with his newly penned book Oddities of West Blankshire.

Soelberg's dark and whimsically illustrated poems have often been likened to the works of Edward Gorey and Tim Burton. As with Gorey, his intended audience is not readily obvious. While the cover hints at a children's book, as do the whimsical illustrations inside, the text casts a decidedly dark and murky tone over the book that makes it deliciously unexpected. Every page is imbued with an undertone of the macabre.

Soelberg's writing and art have a history in Bolton. He wrote a regularly featured column for the Bolton Enterprise in his high school days. In his graduating year, Humberview Secondary commissioned him to create a painting for the school. He later developed the Love Your Library logo for the Caledon Public Library. Since then, he has continued to pursue his artistic passion, gaining recognition and success within the art community. In the past few years, his artwork has been exhibited in many Toronto area galleries, winning several prestigious awards.

Oddities of West Blankshire, his first book, has been received with rave reviews at both the Mississauga Book Fair and a recent Montreal launch. Soelberg is excited to share this book with his hometown of Bolton.

He will be signing books at Forster's from 2 to 4 p.m.

The store is at 334 Queen St. South in Bolton. Copies of Oddities of West Blankshire are available at Forster's for purchase now.
