Region sticking to its numbers for Bolton despite calls to expand
      Peel Regional councillors last Thursday heard more appeals from community members to look at increasing the forecasted population of Bolton, but in the end, they stuck to their position. Councillors had two staff reports on their agenda.

William Osler centre announces start of Peel Memorial site redevelopment
      William Osler Health Centre announced last week it is proceeding with the redevelopment of the Peel Memorial Hospital site. The planning and design phase has started, and construction is slated to begin in 2010, according to a media release issued by the facility.

New lighting going in at Town Hall parking lot
      The parking lot at Caledon Town Hall will be one of 14 demonstration sites in the Greater Toronto Area LightSavers pilot program. This participation will enable the Town to explore suitable lighting technologies that reduce energy and maintenance costs, as well as improve the lighting efficiency of the Town Hall parking lot.

      OPP will be using all available resources for traffic patrol over the Thanksgiving weekend as part of Operation Impact. Paramedics get ok to build two stations
      Peel Regional Paramedic Services (PRPS) recently received Regional council approval to begin design and construction of two paramedic stations colocated with Brampton and Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services. The stations, recommended by the HealthAnalytics Feasibility Study, are part of PRPS's plans for Peel's emergency medical services until 2018.

Caledon debate losing candidates
      Tonight's scheduled Caledon Chamber of Commerce candidates' debate at Glen Eagle Golf Course may find itself lacking debaters due to its decision to exclude Canadian Action Party candidate Dean Woods from participating. Liberal Rebecca Finch and Green candidate Ard Van Leeuwen both said they will not participate unless Woods is allowed to take part.

Charges laid for giving false identification to police
      Traffic Caledon OPP officers responded to 22 motor vehicle collisions during the seven-day period ending Monday. One motorist was charged under Section 172(1) of the highway Traffic Act for excessive speeding.

Fall seat belt campaign in full swing
      The Ontario Provincial Police's involvement in the Provincial Seat Belt Campaign is now in full swing. The initiative is 12 days in length and will conclude to this Sunday. Caledon officers continue their efforts to raise awareness of the importance of wearing seat belts, as well as proper use of child restraints in vehicles.
