Local artist showcases the elements

The Art Gallery of Peel is presenting Ryszard Litwiniuk: Elements from Sept. 18 to Oct. 26.

Based in Mississauga, Litwiniuk has spent the past 15 years exhibiting across Europe and North America. In this exhibition, Litwiniuk uses scavenged stumps of wood to uncover naturally occurring patterns.

"It's amazing how Litwiniuk can see so much in something so simple," commented Josie Premzell, Peel Heritage Complex development officer. "What we may see as just a piece of discarded wood, Litwiniuk sees as art."

Litwiniuk's exhibition features innovative sculptures and prints with a focus on the living, dynamic nature of wood. Elements forces the audience to examine their relationship with nature and, ultimately, their footprint on the earth.

The Art Gallery of Peel is funded by the Region of Peel with additional support received from the Ontario Arts Council. It's supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, it invested $17.1 last year million in visual arts throughout Canada.

The Peel Heritage Complex is operated by the Region of Peel and is at 9 Wellington St. E. in Brampton. The Complex is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; weekends from noon to 4:30 p.m.
