Belfountain hosting annual Salamander Festival this Saturday

There will be a host of of interesting and fun activities in Belfountain Saturday.

The 12th annual Salamander Festival is set for the village and Belfountain Conservation Area, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Enjoy a hot, plate-free breakfast and some live entertainment; learn about electrofishing; see a live fish display; paint a fish magnet; take a family hike and more.

The Salamander Festival is sponsored by the Belfountain Community Organization in partnership with Credit Valley Conservation (CVC), Belfountain Village Church, Belfountain Public School and the Belfountain Inn. The festival coincides with the inaugural Caledon Day celebrations and honours the threatened Jefferson Salamander.

Admission into Belfountain Conservation Area is free, with a coupon for the Festival. CVC staff will be on hand for demonstrations and to answer questions about CVC programs and activities. In addition, there will be live entertainment, a farmers' market, silent auction, squash and pumpkin growing contest, bake sale, dog agility trial and a hot breakfast and barbecue lunch for sale.

All money raised during the Festival will go to local environmental awareness projects.
