Caledon; A 'Youth Friendly Community' with Play Works recognition
      It is no secret that Caledon youth have many opportunities to grow within the town. Provincial Health Promotions Minister Margarett Best recognized the youth of Caledon for the first time, along with four other youth-friendly communities at a special ceremony and reception at Queen's Park Monday.

Evening in China to raise funds
      The Peel Chapter of the Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario is holding a gala fund-raiser, called An Evening in China June 14. It will be at the Speranza Restaurant and Banquet Hall, at 510 Deerhurst Dr. in Brampton to benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peel.

Pedigree adoption program gives homeless dogs in shelters a paw
      Mayor Marolyn Morrison calls a countrywide campaign to help dogs a "wonderful contribution". Caledon Animal Shelter located on 12889 Coleraine Dr., Bolton was among a dozen facilities across the country to recieve $5,000.

Major accident in Bolton leaves students with minor injuries
School bus and dump truck
      Students were able to walk away from their damaged school bus with only minor injuries Monday after a collision with a dump truck. The accident happened in the intersection of King Road and Caledon-King Town Line around 2:55 p.m., Caledon OPP Constable Linda Kennedy reported.

Increased Funding for Headwaters
      In an effort to increase access to Headwaters Health Care Centre, services and assist in operational planning, the Central West Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN) has increased its operational funding. LHIN, over the last year, has increased the funding base by $4.4 million, a 13.6 per cent increase since April 1, 2007.

Caledon hosting green energy PowerHouse workshop tonight
      The Town will host a PowerHouse workshop tonight (Thursday). It will run from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Caledon Community Complex in Caledon East. PowerHouse is a new loan or rebate pilot program that gives residential homeowners access to zero-interest loans, ranging from $2,000 to $50,000, or a rebate for installing qualifying renewable electricity generation technologies.

      Something has to be done about a single-lane bridge on Kennedy Road, but someone's going to have to decide exactly what. The bridge, located a little less than a mile north of Olde Base Line Road, has been found to be deficient.

Police property auction coming
      Caledon OPP will be holding a property auction this Saturday (June 7) at the detachment office in Caledon East. Viewing will be at 10 a.m., with the bidding starting at 10:30. Goods on the block will include bicycles, in a variety of styles, sizes and conditions, tools and other miscellaneous items.

Police report vandalism was reported at local schools
      Traffic Caledon OPP reports their officers responded to 24 motor vehicle accidents during the week ending Monday. As well, five motorists were charged under Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act for excessive speeding.

Mayor's husband assaulted
      Caledon OPP reports John Morrison, husband of Mayor Marolyn Morrison, was punched in the face Tuesday afternoon as he arrived home from work. Police said the incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m., as he arrived at his Inglewood home. He was apparently approached by a lone male and struck. The attacker immediately fled on foot.

Serious accident on Highway 10
Dark coloured vehicle sought
      Caledon OPP reports a man received serious, but non-life-threatening injuries after a traffic accident on Highway 10 at Beach Grove sideroad Monday morning. Police said they were called out, along with Caledon Emergency Services at about 4:45 a.m.
