Hall figure skaters take third place in Aylmer competition

The figure skating team at Robert F. Hall Secondary School may be small, but there's no denying they're good.

Three of the members travelled to the fourth annual Skate Canada Western Ontario High School Skating competition March 4, and they came home with third place honours.

Darlene Sealy, teacher representative for the team, said this performance was notable because they were up against about 30 other schools, and some of those teams had as many as 20 members.

The Hall girls, Christine Babiak, Angela-Marie Fiore and Jennifer Yakimishyn, took part in six events at the competition, and emerged with one first-place showing, two seconds, a third and a fourth.

"We've got some great skaters," Sealy observed. "Some very, very talented skaters."

The team was missing two of its members for this event, Britney Colitto and Briar Robertson, but Sealy said they hope to have all hands ready for their next meet.
