Caledon OPP were busy in the days leading up to the holidays

Traffic

Caledon OPP officers responded to 26 property damage, 11 personal injury and sadly one fatal traffic collision during the seven day period, ending Dec. 16.

There were five cases in which drivers were charged under the new provisions of the Highway Traffic Act for going in excess of 50 km-h over the posted speed limit. Two of those incidents took place on Highway 410 at Mayfield Road Dec. 10, anther on Horseshoe Hill Road at the Grange Sideroad Dec. 10, one on Mountainview Road at Charlestown Sideroad Dec. 10, and another Dec. 13 on Mayfield Road at Airport Road.

Alcohol and driving

Caledon OPP officers responded to a two vehicle collision on King Street West in Bolton Dec. 13. An involved driver was arrested and charged with a drinking and driving offence. A 52- year-old Caledon woman was held for a bail hearing Dec. 14, charged with impaired driving, driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol per 100 mls. of blood, careless driving and drive fail to surrender driver's license.

ADec. 15 vehicle stop for a traffic violation on Boston Mills Road at McLaughlin Road resulted in a criminal charge for the driver. A 30- year-old Brampton man has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol per 100 mls. of blood and will appear in court Jan. 17.

A 54-year-old Mississauga man was charged Dec. 15 with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol per 100 mls. of blood and breach of probation after being stopped for traffic enforcement on Airport Road. He was held for a Dec. 16 bail hearing.

Drugs

A Dec. 12 vehicle stop was conducted by officers at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check at Humber Station Road and Castlederg Side Road. The driver, a 49-yearold man from Keswick was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance; marijuana. He will appear in court Jan. 21.

Dec. 13 Speed enforcement on Highway 410 at Mayfield Road led to a vehicle stop by a Caledon OPP officer. As a result, the driver and passenger were both arrested and charged with drug-related offences. A 24- year-old Brampton resident has been charged with possession of controlled substance; marijuana, possession of schedule I; heroin, possession of schedule I; cocaine, possession for the purpose; cocaine, and three counts of breach of probation. He was held for a Dec. 14 bail hearing. A 23-yearold Brampton resident has been charged with possession schedule I; cocaine, possession schedule I; heroin, possession schedule II; cannabis marijuana, and possession for the purpose schedule I; Cocaine. He was given a court date of Jan. 21.

Stolen vehicle

A truck was located abandoned in a ditch on Healey Road west of Centreville Creek Road Dec. 10. The truck was on file as stolen from Orangeville. The ignition had been punched.

Sometime overnight Dec. 15, a skid loader/grader was reported stolen from a Coleraine Drive business.

Theft

A vehicle parked at a Flemmington Drive residence in Valleywood was broken into Dec. 13 during the night hours. Loose change was stolen from the vehicle.

A vehicle parked on Taylorwood Avenue in Bolton was entered Dec. 16 during the night hours. A backpack, IPOD and keys were stolen from the vehicle.

A wallet has been reported stolen Dec. 16 from an unlocked vehicle parked in an Oliver Lane driveway in Caledon East.

A cell phone has been reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in a Crestridge Drive driveway in Bolton Dec. 16.

Other criminal offences

At 11:31 a.m. Dec. 3, Caledon OPP attended at an address on Caledon Street in Alton with a search warrant. Officers executed the warrant and seized more than $1,000 worth of hockey equipment. A 40-year-old woman was home when the warrant was executed and she was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, under $5,000. She was given a court date of Jan. 10. A second party has now also been charged. A 40-year-old Caledon man was arrested Dec. 13 and held for a bail hearing that same date. He was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, under $5,000 and breach of probation.

Domestic or family

disputes

Caledon OPP reported dealing with six cases of domestic disputes during the week, with charges resulting in two of these incidents.

There were also six family disputes they report, and there were no charges resulting from them.
