Contract will be negotiated

Caledon's fire chief was authorized by Caledon council recently to negotiate with Dependable Emergency Vehicles for the conversion and refurbishment of a pumper/tanker.

When the apparatus design went out for public tender, no bids were received by the Oct. 19 deadline.

On Oct. 30, Dependable Emergency Vehicles in Brampton offered to do the work for $124,500. Town staff reviewed the offer and found it acceptable.

Fire Chief Brad Bigrigg commented it's imperative this conversion and refurbishment be completed prior to the 2008 brush fire season.
