Account set up to aid fire victims

The two elderly people who were injured last Saturday when fire struck their Martha Street home are recovering in hospital, and the community has the chance to help them out at this difficult time.

Neighbours have set up an account and the Bolton branch of CIBC, in trust for Fred and Margaret Hawes.

Mr. Hawes, 84, and Mrs. Hawes, 89, were both taken to hospital after the fire in their home. Their son John reported Wednesday night they were both recovering. "Their spirits are pretty high," he remarked.

Branch Manager Terri Gomes reported Friday contributions had already started coming in.
