Rumpelstiltskin appearing at Blackhorse The Blackhorse Village Players are preparing to open their third annual Children's Holiday Production Rumpelstiltskin is a story of a strange little miser who offers to help a young girl only to satisfy his own greed. As usual, the play promises plenty of audience participation to delight the young and the young at heart. The cast includes the talents of Chandra Mulder, as the narrator (Gladys), Nadia Casagrande (Rumpelstiltskin), Lisa Casagrande (Annette), John Milne (the King), David Potocki (the Miller) and the audience. Cheryl Phillips is back in the director's chair for the third time for the children's show and is enjoying every minute of the process. "After directing Patchwork two years ago and witnessing the positive response from the young audiences, I was hooked," Phillips explained. "It is truly an enjoyable experience to see a theatre full of children and parents become so involved in a story and interacting with the characters on stage. Last year, the demand for seating for the Wizard of Oz was huge, we were sold out and held over for an extra performance. The children love the interaction and that influences the type of plays we do, that is what makes them so popular." The holiday fun continues even after the applause as children, again, will have an opportunity to meet the cast and have their pictures taken with their favourite character( s). Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras. There will also be a 50/50 draw for the adults. All proceeds from this event will go toward the theatre's technical fund for upgrades to the lighting and sound systems. Blackhorse recommends ..............................................that you reserve your tickets early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are only available by calling the Box Office at (905) 880-5002. Performance dates are Jan. 5 and 6 only, with two performances each day at 1 and 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 each. A limit of two parents or guardians can be admitted free in exchange for non-perishable food items. There will be no assigned seating. Rush seating only. The members of the Blackhorse Village Players wish to express warm wishes to our patrons and their families this holiday season. We thank you for continuing to support community theatre. |
