Lightning edges Rockets

Caledon Lightning peewees came away from the Brampton Powerade Centre recently with a 2-1 win against the Brampton Rockets.

Caledon made their mark early in the game, scoring a pair of goals in the first period. Goals were scored by Tyler Tiessen, assisted by Kristian Balinov, and Patrick Bourne, assisted by Michael Tepper and Cody Tremblay.

The fast-paced game saw many shots on goal at both ends and several breakaways, but the goaltending by both teams prevented any more scoring plays. At the close of the second period, Caledon still held a 2-0 lead.

Caledon's Balinov, Bourne and Hayden Gorman were quick to take the puck at many of the face-offs. Michael Sheridan worked hard and had his best game ever. Both teams hustled well and had the spectators on the edge of their seats. Despite heroic goaltending by Paul Moratti and Ryan Woodworth, Brampton got back into the game with just four minutes left in the third period.

The nail-biting game drew to a close with a well earned 2-1 win to Caledon.

"The team are really pulling together. We have some great players, but the team spirit is gathering momentum too," said Coach Mike Sheridan.
