OPP strictly enforcing speed limits

Caledon OPP officers responded to 47 property damage, and four personal injury collisions during the week ending Dec. 2.

Officers have been enforcing the speed limits at the current end of Highway 410 at Mayfield Road in Caledon. The posted maximum speed for vehicles travelling northbound on Highway 410 approaching Mayfield Road drops in gradual increments from 100-km/hour to 60. Vehicles must be able to negotiate a bend in the road as well as come to a T-intersection either making a right hand turn or left hand turn on to Mayfield.

During a two-day period, officers charged seven drivers under Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act and they were all served with the seven-day driving suspension and the vehicle impoundment for seven days.

Officers will continue to monitor this location to ensure the safety of the local roadways, and ask drivers to be aware of and respect the maximum posted speed limits.

Alcohol & Driving

Nov. 30, 48-year-old Keith Earl of Caledon was arrested and charged following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check at Humberlea Road and King Street in Bolton. He will appear in court Jan. 3, charged with resisting arrest, impaired driving and driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 mls. of blood.

Dec. 2, charges were laid against the driver of a pickup truck that drove off the roadway and into the ditch on King Street near Highway 10. Thirty-year-old Janos Locz of Brampton will appear in court Jan. 17, charged with impaired driving, failure to provide a breath sample and driving while under suspension.

Break & Enter

Nov. 29, during the midday hours, a Royalton Drive residence in Bolton was entered through a window. Items reported stolen from the home include an X-Box and some games.

Mischief

Nov. 29, a bus parked at a business on Mayfield Road was damaged. The interior had been vandalized. The seats were ripped, radio removed and the steering console had been tampered with.

Nov. 30, a pickup truck parked at a Tanglewood Drive residence in Caledon was entered during the night hours. Nothing was been reported stolen from the vehicle.

Stolen, Recovered

Nov. 26, a vehicle was located abandoned on Pinebrook Circle in Valleywood. The owner had reported it stolen to Halton Regional Police. Door trim was missing and there were dents and scratches caused to the body of the car.

Nov. 27, a backhoe that had been stolen from Brampton was located abandoned on the front lawn of a business on Polenta Crescent in Bolton.

Nov. 28, a mini excavator was found abandoned on a Jean Street property in Caledon East. It was stolen from a business located on Airport Road.

Nov. 29, a backhoe was stolen from a construction site at Regional Road 50 and Simona Drive during the night hours. It was believed that the backhoe was driven from the site. The backhoe was located in the morning abandoned on Regional Road 50 near Clarkway Drive in Brampton.

Theft

Dec. 1, a vehicle parked at a Donherb Crescent home in Valleywood was entered during the night hours. A wallet and a cell phone were stolen.

Domestic Disputes

Caledon officers responded to six domestic disputes between Nov. 26 and Dec. 1. No charges were laid.
