Award-winning author Pereira to visit local library

Caledon Public Library will be hosting a special evening featuring a book launch by local Canadian author Helen Pereira.

Pereira's life-long literary passion and contributions extend beyond her own artistic endeavours and into the work of former students and those who simply just love the written word. She will be introducing and reading from her latest volume of short stories, Southern Exposure.

This is her fifth book, a fiction collection set in the tropical climates of Brazil, Cuba and Costa Rica. The Brazilian stories reveal the lives of Canadian professionals adjusting to the advantages and challenges of work on foreign aid projects. The Cuban stories focus on the life of a wannabe journalist who travels to Cuba before the missile crisis, and returns 40 years later, while the Costa Rican novella reveals the lives of four artists at an art colony.

The event is taking place tomorrow (Thursday) at 7 p.m. at the Bolton branch and will feature door prizes and refreshments. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.
