Lightning peewees over Sharpshooters

Facing the Brampton Sharpshooters for the second weekend running, the Caledon Caledon Lightning peewees brought home a superb 8-3 win.

Four Caledon goals were scored in the first period - two by Kristian Balinov, one each by Michael Sheridan and Patrick Bourne. Goals were assisted by Christian Brugger, Mitchell Lovell, Hayden Gorman, Michael Tremblay, Michael Tepper and Alex Brugger.

At the opening of the second period, Brampton scored their first goal despite excellent goal tending by Ryan Woodworth and Paul Moratti. Then Balinov brought the score to 5-1 assisted by Gorman.

In the final period play was mainly in the Brampton end with many opportunities to raise the count. Brampton scored their second goal. The action stepped up again in the last 2 minutes. Caledon goals were scored in quick succession by Gorman, Kyle Milik and Charlie Hird with less than a minute to go. Goals in this period were assisted by Sheridan, Alex Brugger, Balinov and Gorman.

A surprise goal by Brampton brought the closing score to 8-3 just one second before the buzzer. Coach Mike Sheridan commented; "A fabulous win! The team played out their practice passes and it paid off."
