The Caledon Hawks headed out to Stouffville Nov. 16 in hopes of winning the Stouffville tournament. The team played five games and won all of them.

With 3 players on the injured list - Tyler Begley, Tyler Goertzen and Daniel Kozluk - the team played good, solid hockey.

Game one was against the Belleville Bulls. The Hawks nabbed win number one with a score of 3-0. Caledon took control early on in the game when captain, Nick Wheeler, got on the score board (unassisted). Goal number two for the Hawks was from Michael Bozzo, assisted by Lucas Guadagnini. Guadagnini also got goal number 3, which was assisted by Scott Foley. The shutout went to Peter Coghill.

The Hawks played their second game against the London SSE Wild. Early in the first period, Bozzo took a beautiful pass from Foley to score on a breakaway.

Mid-way through the second period, with the opposition in the box, Jonathan Dunn made a picture perfect pass over to Bozzo, who cashed in once again. Shortly after the second goal, Caledon encountered penalty trouble and John Sheridan provided some solid penalty killing while goalie, Dylan Farrow, was busy breaking up many tense scrambles in the crease. Defencemen, Leo Labine and Jacob VanVliet, fought tooth and nail killing the penalties but London was able to score a goal.

One minute into the third period the team was finally at full strength and Bozzo got his hat trick. London scored to make it 3-2. Bozzo then netted his fourth goal of the game from Jake Mottershaw. The Hawks nabbed win number two with a score of 4-2. Special thanks to Terry Skaltsiotis, Dale Reinhart and Sean Fraser who were all called up to help the team.

Five hours later the Hawks were at it again, this time against the Sarnia Sting. Without any call ups, the team was playing short four players. It seemed to motivate the team to play even harder. Although the Sting got the first goal, the rest of the game belonged to the team from Caledon. Within three minutes, Wheeler tied the game with an amazing pass from Foley and VanVielt. Shortly after that, Guadagnini passed to Dunn who then passed back to Guadagnini to take the lead 2-1.

The second period, was a defensive struggle with fantastic plays by Mottershaw and Christian DeMarco.

In the third period, Caledon scored two more goals. Chris Sabaziotis scored his first of the season, assisted by Foley. With three minutes to go, Dunn drilled the puck into the net to lock up the game with assists from Michael Newman and Guadagnini. The Hawks nabbed win number three with a score of 4-1.

The semi-final took place Nov. 18 against the Oakridge Arrows. Playing with 5 men down, Dale Reinhart was brought up for the day to assist the team. During the first period, the Hawks played defensively, allowing only two shots on goal. Offensively the Caledon team was superb, but unable to score.

The Caledon team continued to take charge in the second period, but once again they could not score.

As always, the Hawks played their best hockey in the third period - nothing seemed to tire them out. At the 8-minute mark, Oakridge got a penalty. The Hawks took advantage with NHL passing among Sabaziotis, Dunn, Mottershaw, Guadagnini and VanVliet. Guadagnini finally scored from Sabaziotis and VanVliet. Within minutes the team got their second on the game as the puck went from VanVliet to Sabaziotis to Bozzo and into the net. The next two goals were empty netters - the first by Guadagnini and the second by Bozzo.

The 4-2 win advanced Caledon to final.

The final game was against the Orangeville Flyers. Captain Wheeler won the opening face off and scored 8 seconds into the game. This was the only goal in a fast-paced, hardhitting championship game. The undermanned squad played well defensively and Peter Coghill netted his second shutout of the tournament. The Caledon Hawks were crowned champions!
