Coghill gets shutout in Hawks' win over Woolwich The Caledon Hawks minor bantam AE team had the Woolwich Wildcats wishing they hadn't met. In back-to-back games, the Caledon boys out-shot and out-witted their opponents in both games. Game one was Oct. 7 and although the action started out relatively slow, the game got into full gear by the second period. Goal number one for the Hawks came when Jonathan Dunn passed the puck to Lucas Guadagnini who got the action started with his blast into the net. Five minutes later, the puck went from Leo Labine to Michael Bozzo and then off the stick of Michael Newman and straight into the net. Twelve seconds later, Bozzo slid the puck on over to Daniel Kozluk and from there over to Dunn where the puck soared through the air and into the net. The action continued to get better and better in the third as the boys from Caledon chalked up another two goals. Nick Wheeler got the first with the assists going to Newman and Tyler Begley. Wheeler (unassisted) also got the second of the final period. Dynamic defensive moves by Jacob VanVliet and Chris Sabaziotis helped to keep the opposition's shots down to a minimum. Hawks' goalie Peter Coghill was hot for the Hawks as he saved one shot after another and was credited with his first shutout of the season. The final score was 5-0 for the Hawks. Coaches awarded Daniel Kozluk player of the game. The action continued as the two teams met once again, only this time it was on the Hawks' home turf. Goal number one was quite graceful and smooth as Hawks' goalie Dylan Farrow passed the puck to buddy Jake Mottershaw who then passed it to Bozzo who fired it into the net. In less than a minute, Christian DeMarco nabbed the puck off of an opponent, passed to over to mighty Mottershaw who then skated in and around players, made the pass to John Sheridan and from there it flew into the net. Sabaziotis was up next, showing the opposition what he was made of as he muscled in and around players to make the pass to Tyler Begley who then hurled it into the net. With only 8 seconds left on the clock the Woolwich team was awarded their only goal of the night. The only team to score in the second period was Caledon. Tyler Goertzen got the goal which was assisted by Bozzo. Of the 17 shots on the Woolwich goalie in the third, 4 of them went in the net. Bozzo got the first and was assisted by Scott Foley. Guadagnini got the second and was assisted by Newman and Begley. Wheeler got the third (unassisted). Scott Foley came in on the home stretch to take the final goal. |
