Cavalier atom AE Hawks continue winning ways The Cavalier atom AE Hawks continued their wining road show with an 8- 0 romp over the Brampton Battalion. Nicholas Amato opened the scoring in the first period after some dueling on the boards by Quinn Richardson and a pass over to Steven Smythe then to Amato who popped it in. The same line struck again as Amato got the puck to Richardson who from the Brampton corner got the puck to Smythe for the goal. In the second period, Carter Ledson fired the puck to Smythe during a line change for another Hawk goal. Smythe netted the hat trick in the third when Amato leveraged the pointman Mitchell Devins-Cann and Smythe picked up the rebound. Jake Stronach got on the board with a goal in the third with some feisty play against the Brampton defenders. Tyler Buth banged in Hawk goal number 6 after some back and forth play with Ledson. Stronach again on the scoreboard with a quick goal that left the Brampton goalie baffled. The closing goal came as Daniel Fusco showed some clever stick work getting the puck to Richardson who rushed up the ice for the final goal of the game. The next game saw the Hawks facing their old Flamborough rivals with Koby Stronach in the net. The Hawks got on the scoreboard in the first period as Jake Stronach took the rebound from Devins-Cann. Flamborough fought back but Richardson popped in a goal after a nice pass from Devins-Cann. The second period closed with a tight score when Amato made a fast rush up the ice for an unassisted goal. The third period brought hard, physical play when Sarah Power muscled the Flamborough forwards and got the puck over to Amato who made the play to Smythe for the go ahead goal. The Hawks got the insurance goal as Smythe scrambled the puck to Amato who moved it over to Richardson who deked in for the goal. The next night the Hawks were back in Erin where they played a physical game against the Shamrocks. Ryan Thompson got the call to stand between the posts. The Shamrocks opened the scoring with the Hawks fighting back. Richardson opened the scoring on a pass from Jake Stronach. After a scoreless second period, Power moved the puck to Smythe over to Richardson for the second goal. Richardson secured the hat trick with a rush up the ice for Hawk goal number 3 as the game ended in a 3-3 tie. The Flamborough Sabres were in town again as Riley Telfer netted the first goal after some smart defensive play by Conner Catenaro and pass from Zachary Wilson. In the second period, Franceso Lunardo dodged the Sabres to make the pass to Richardson who moved it up the ice to Amato for the second Hawk goal. Amato then moved up the ice strongly from the Hawk end to hit the net with Hawk goal number 3. The Hawks fought hard as Richardson and Smyth fought through the defenders and hit Amato for the pass and the hattrick. Congratulations to Hawks defence for a strong game in the 5-4 loss. Last season saw this team win the league championship over Stoney Creek and Oct. 20 saw the first re-match. Wilson opened the scoring on a pass from Jake Stronach. Amato found the back of the net unassisted near the end of the first period. The Hawks started fast in the second period as Richardson scored on a pass from Power and Smythe. Richardson found the top shelf again at the end of the 2nd with passing from Fusco and Ledson. The third period found Ledson being the set-up man again on a pass to Smythe. Callan McCorriston showed the fans his fancy defence work; getting the puck to Fusco who moved it over to Richardson for the hat trick. Riley Telfer showed his stuff again for the final goal as he popped the puck between the pipes on a pass from Richardson. |
