Peewees fight back for 5-5 draw

Caledon Lightning peewees turned the game around and made a brilliant comeback recently.

Facing the Brampton Spitfires the score evened to a 5-5 draw at the Powerade Centre.

After a shaky start with numerous shots on goal at both ends, the first period closed 1-0 in Brampton's favour.

As the second period opened it was clear that the Caledon team was keen to turn the score around with three shots on goal within the first 40 seconds without success. But just two minutes later it was a different story as Brampton scored two goals in quick succession.

However, all was not lost! Caledon spirits rose again when Patrick Bourne scored assisted by Cody Tremblay, then Tremblay scored assisted by Bourne, and just moments later Tremblay scored again helped by Michael Tepper, bringing the score to 3-3 at the close of the second period.

At the opening of the third period, Brampton netted two more goals. Although both sides fought hard the score was still at 5-3 until the final four minutes of the game. Focusing their energy and smartening their team play Caledon's Kristian Balinov scored. In the final moments of the game Tyler Tiessen assisted Hayden Gorman score an excellent goal which evened the score, closing at 5-5.

"Despite a slow start, they pulled off some better passes and worked hard to earn their comeback," said Derek Tiessen.
