Issue is over, mayor contends Caledon's mayor said the debate on future population numbers is over. Councillors, Nov. 6, reaffirmed the growth numbers of 84,444 to 2021 and 108,000 to 2031. "As far as we're concerned, that time period is done," she said. The Region of Peel is currently working on its conformity to the province's Places to Growth strategy, which anticipates Peel to reach 1.64 million. The only place the mayor can see any change is if the province comes back saying it made a mistake in its projections, and then alters the numbers for Peel (Caledon) one way or another. She did point out Caledon's numbers do offer growth - an additional 27,000 people through 2021 and another 24,000 to 2031. |
