Volunteers are dedicated

As co-ordinator of Caledon Community Services' transportation program, I am continually amazed at the dedication and excellence of the many volunteers who provide thousands of rides every year Caledon residents.

Recently, one such volunteer, Nancy Young, arrived at the home of a senior provide a ride to a medical appointment. When the client did not respond for her pick up, Nancy took some extraordinary measures to ensure her well-being. Fortunately, Nancy gained entry into this senior's home where she discovered her unconscious and in severe medical distress. She immediately alerted emergency personal who quickly responded on scene and transported the client to the hospital where she received lifesaving treatment.

The family of this senior was travelling outside of the country at the time and because Nancy was on-scene throughout the entire event, our office was able to keep the family abreast of all developments as they occurred.

Had Nancy not acted so quickly, and demonstrated such care and concern, the outcome of this situation would surely have been much worse.

On behalf of Caledon Community Services, I would like to recognize the lifesaving efforts of this amazing volunteer. Nancy Young is making a real difference in the lives of many residents in Caledon.
