Safety issue in Valleywood over planned mall

A proposed regional mall on the west side of Highway 10 at Valleywood Boulevard has the Valleywood Residents Association worried about traffic backing up at the Valleywood off ramp.

VRA vice-president Rob Harrison told Caledon council at its Nov. 6 meeting there are potential human safety concerns if traffic backs up on to live north-west bound lanes of an unexpandable Highway 410 while waiting for a traffic light to allow vehicles to enter the mall.

At a recent VRA meeting, Harrison said Councillor Allan Thompson informed them the mall will cover 140 acres which would be about twice the size of Trinity Commons Mall in Brampton.

The VRA requested it be on the terms of reference document that's required for the official plan amendment and regional ofifcial plan amendment pertaining to the mall.
