Radio comes to Caledon, Bolton Caledon and Bolton will soon each have their firstever FM radio stations! The Canadian Radio- Television and Telecommunications Commission approved two applications by Caledon's Rick Sargent to establish the town's first radio services. The first station, Caledon Information Radio, will serve northeast Caledon on 102.7FM. It will be an information station, broadcasting a loop of regularly updated local weather and road conditions, bus cancellations, school closings, tourist information, local events and more. The Caledon station has been assigned the call letters CFGM. It has just completed testing and is preparing for its official launch. "We feel that this station will provide Caledon with another source of up-to-date local information," said Sargent, a 20-year veteran of the radio broadcasting industry. "Since Caledon is such a mobile community, with residents spending a significant amount of time in their vehicles commuting within the Town, we felt the time was right for an information source that both residents and visitors could have access to while traveling through the area." The Bolton station will broadcast on 105.5FM and will be a full service FM station, broadcasting an eclectic music mix, with emphasis on local and Canadian artists. The Bolton station has been assigned the call letters CJFB FM and hopes to begin mandatory on-air test broadcasts within a few weeks. "We are really excited about what these stations will do for the area, and we want to involve the community as much as possible," commented Sargent. "All local musicians and groups are encouraged to submit their material for consideration - regardless of musical genre or format. Our mandate is to serve Caledon and Bolton and that's what we intend to do." All inquiries regarding the stations can be directed to info@radiocaledon.com; by visiting www.radiocaledon. com, or by calling the station at 905-880-4636. |
