Tragic industrial incident claims life of Brampton man

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, Caledon OPP officers were called to attend the scene of an industrial accident at a construction site in Caledon. The incident occurred at the site of the extension of the 410 Highway, near Valleywood Blvd., at Highway 10.

Initial investigations reveal that a large earth mover was being operated at an area of an embankment where there is a drop off. It appears the machine may have moved too close to the edge of the embankment and have rolled sideways down to the next level.

Tragically the operator, Major Singh Dhadda, 47, was trapped under the machine and succumbed to his injuries on scene. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.

It took some time for to firefighters to free him and Caledon Fire & Emergency Services worked with Diamond towing to free him.

Caledon OPP and investigators from the Ministry of Labour continue to investigate this tragic event.

Any witnesses to this event are urged to contact Constable Cormier of the Caledon East OPP office at 905 584 2241.
